I was the kid always making things and experimenting, from using rose petals to make 'perfume' and arranging my toy ballerinas with flowers into pretty patterns to spray painting with car paint!! (not the best idea) a forest scene on my bedroom wall when I was a teenager.
I started working life as a trainee window dresser (which I loved ), working in a jewellers, a pub, tele sales (which I hated), to being in the civil service for 33 years...not a traditional artist journey I guess. I took voluntary redundancy in 2015 to look after my partner and decided to give my artistic career a chance, and here I am. I never lost my passion for trying new things and still haven't.
I love textures and layers and use combinations of clay carving, printing, eco dying fabric, felting and stitching it all together to create something totally unique and individual. What I enjoy most is how the process unfolds and evolves throughout, it is always experimental, it’s where the magic happens.
The media for every piece is chosen to suit the subject, every one is different, and totally original.
This Year...
I moved to be by the sea in Filey, and am so excited and happy to have a proper studio its my childhood dream. If you'd like to see more of my new work since my move check out my new work page.
